MerchAI

Merchandise with the margin worked out.

Plan merchandise, check print files against the product's specification, track stock and orders, and see the margin on every item after costs and fees.

What is MerchAI?

MerchAI keeps an artist's merchandise as products, variants and a stock ledger in which every movement is recorded. It works out the margin on each unit after cost, shipping and payment or platform fees, and the lowest price that reaches a target margin. It compares artwork's measured properties — size, resolution, colour mode — with the product's stated print specification and says which specification it checked; a file that passes meets that specification, which is not the same as a supplier accepting it. Reorder suggestions come from the last thirty days of sales against lead time and safety stock, and a variant with no sales history is reported as such rather than given an invented rate. For a tour, it suggests units per show from your past sales per hundred attendees. Shopify orders arrive through signed webhooks; show sales and other orders are recorded by hand. Printful and Printify are not connected in this release — export the file and create the product there.

Problems it solves

  • See the real margin on each item after fees and shipping
  • Price for a target margin without a spreadsheet
  • Catch a print file that does not meet the product's specification
  • Know which variants will run out before the next delivery
  • Decide how many units to bring to each show
  • Record Shopify orders automatically and show sales by hand

Key capabilities

Print-File Checks
Compare artwork's measured properties with a product's stated print specification, and name the specification it was checked against.
Inventory Optimisation
Match stock and prep to expected demand, and show the cost of being wrong in each direction.
Human Approval Gates
Anything with an outside consequence — a pitch sent, a product published, a campaign sent, a booking committed — waits for a person with the named permission.
Evidence Trail
Every figure carries the record it came from, so a reader can check the answer instead of trusting it.

How it is built

Unit margin and target pricing
Margin after cost, shipping and fees, and the lowest .99 price that meets a target margin.
Print-file checks
Artwork measured against the product's print specification, with the specification named in the result.
Stock ledger
Every movement — received, sold, damaged, moved to a tour — recorded, so the count can be explained.
Reorder suggestions
From the last thirty days' sales, lead time and safety stock; no history means no invented rate.
Tour allocation
Units per show from your measured sales per hundred attendees and each show's expected attendance.
Shopify order webhooks
Orders created and paid in Shopify are verified and recorded once each; customer personal data is not stored.

How it works

How the work is structured, and what each step's output rests on.

  1. Record products and costs

    Source

Products, variants, supplier cost, shipping and fees.

  2. Check the artwork

    Observed

Measured properties compared with the print specification.

  3. Approve and publish

    Human-verified

A person approves the product; you publish it in your store.

  4. Track orders and stock

    Observed

Shopify webhooks and recorded sales update the ledger; reorder suggestions follow.

Questions

Does MerchAI publish products to Shopify?
Not in this release. Shopify order webhooks are received and verified; you publish the product in Shopify after it is approved here. Printful and Printify are also not connected — export the print file and create the product on their site.
Does a passed print check guarantee the supplier will accept the file?
No. It confirms the file meets the specification recorded for the product, and names that specification. Suppliers can apply checks of their own.
Where do sales at shows come in?
Record them as orders by hand — card-reader and payment exports are not imported automatically in this release.

Teams using MerchAI often want these too.
